In recent years, you may have noticed a trend of white ceramic animals popping up all over the internet.
Cut to last week, when I found a ceramic dog at Good Will, and before I could fully comprehend what I was doing, it was in my cart. Only problem it that the ceramic dog in question was supremely tacky, but, it was a cocker spaniel, like a certain furry friend of mine, so of course I just had to have it. I was on the phone with BFF J at the time and wondered out loud if I should buy it and spray-paint it white. I knew it would either turn really awesome or really, really fug. But, as BFF J astutely pointed out, it was only $5, and if I messed up, I could always stick the dog in the back yard, so, I made a beeline to the cash, brought the ugly thing home, and got to work.
So, just how bad are we talking? Behold:
And here it is after a few coats of high gloss white spray paint! I’m still amazed at what a few coats of paint can do! It looks so sleek and modern! Now, I just need to find a place for it in our home.
Total cost: $5 + some ultra gloss white spray paint that I already had on hand. This was such a quick and easy project, especially considering what some stores charge for white ceramic animals!
